Abbey Law
About Us

WHO WE ARE
We are a firm of Solicitors who are able to provide an efficient but economical service to all our clients.

We are based in pleasant offices within the Almondsbury Business Park, which is fully accessible to all parts of the country from the Almondsbury Interchange being not more than one mile from our office.

David's expertise in the property field has given him a fine reputation both locally and indeed nationally where he has appeared on BBC National Television (on three occasions) and featured in articles both in the main daily newspapers and Sunday papers, as a result of his involvement in the pioneering of modern property transactions.

WHAT WE DO
It is our policy always that an expert should deal with any particular transaction. Our own expertise is in the field of Property Law (both Residential and Commercial) and also dealing with Wills and Probate.

If there are any legal matters which fall outside our area of expertise then we ensure that these are referred to the appropriate experts so that at all times our client has a specialised executive dealing with his or her matter.

David was admitted as a Solicitor in July 1979, and has an Honours Law Degree (LL.B) and is a member both of the Law Society and the Bristol Law Society.

OUR FEES are of a most competitive nature and an estimate can be provided on request. Despite the fact that we are offering a modern, expedited and efficient service, we do not propose to charge an additional fee or premium for these advantages.

We are quite happy to talk to any prospective client, or to communicate by e-mail or letter on a "no-obligation" basis at any time.

A SHORT INTRODUCTION TO OUR COMPANY:
Abbey Law is firm of Solicitors, set up by David Brown with a view to providing a new concept in legal services. Based on a modern electronic approach but without losing sight of the personal touch, which is an essential ingredient in the provision of a proper service to each and every client.

Every member of staff is friendly and approachable and will be happy to assist at any time without the spectre of large Solicitors bills being a worry!

We have produced a Clients Chart er to reflect our philosophy, which is set out below.

Whilst we are personable, nevertheless we will use modern technology to its utmost effect, thereby achieving the earliest possible conclusion to any legal transaction.

David has been involved for several years now in dealing with electronic processes. He was a member of the original User panel for the National Land Information Service working with HM Land Registry. This is a service which provides access to information on land through the computer and at the click of a mouse searches can be instigated, which otherwise of necessity had to rely upon the manual process. David would be happy to speak to anybody who requires any further information on this. He can however summarise the National Land Information Service Pilot in Bristol, with which he has been involved in practical use for more than two years, as being a great success, to the extent that the government has decided to roll this out nationally and the private sector has been invited to be involved in the provision of this service. There is a web address for the service, which is www.nlis.org.uk, which sets out the aims and philosophies behind that particular successful project.

David has further been involved in discussions with the Land Registry about taking the electronic process further and discussing electronic conveyancing in its wider sense.

Abbey Law intends to adopt the concept of electronic conveyancing in the manner in which it deals with the conveyancing process.

Finally, David has also been involved in the government initiative and pilot in Bristol of the "Seller's Pack". This is an initiative which it is intended will become law as soon as practical, being part of the government's legislative agenda.

When a Seller is looking to sell his or her property, that Seller provides all the information in relation to the property including a Local Authority Search and an Inspection Report on the property, as part of the marketing package. This is therefore available for the Buyer to inspect before he or she makes the offer subject to contract. It is of course intended that this offer takes into account all aspects of the property so as to prevent any re-negotiation at a later stage as a result of certain finding once the search and enquiry process is effected.

Again the lessons and ideas learnt from this project will be incorporated in the manner with which Abbey Law deals with property transactions.

It will however be on a totally voluntary basis and it is you, as the client, who will decide how the matter proceeds. In any event, there will be no additional charge.
